Snaith Road LC 1981

Snaith Road level crossing (known locally as the under-and-over) was to the west of Rawcliffe Station signal box, from where it was supervised. The crossing keeper was provided with a 'lean to' type hut for shelter, housing the barrier controls and block instrument repeaters.

Two views of the ground frame that controlled the signals and the barrier release.

View inside the cabin showing the barrier controls and the block instrument repeaters (from Snaith West and Rawcliffe Station boxes). The block bell communicates with Rawcliffe Station signal box, from where the signal was given to lower the barriers, 2 beats for an up train and 4 beats for a down train (as far as I remember!)
