Godnow Bridge 1986

Godnow Bridge is on the GCR Doncaster to Scunthorpe line. It was replaced recently by a modern ground level structure as the old box was in a poor condition (see below).

View of level crossing from the box looking towards Scunthorpe

The IFS panel. Doncaster to the left, Scunthorpe to the right. The two slots at the bottom right of the panel house the keys for the crossing gates The keys can only be released when both signals (slotted from Doncaster PB) are at danger. Note the unusual direction labelling, i.e. the up line is to Scunthorpe, away from London. This was an MSLR convention

The new box erected in 2000. Not a bad replacement, even down to the name boards (? the originals), the barge-boards and finials.
